So… in your Link for installing Squid Proxy Server…
Step 1 > Install Squid-Cache for Windows – click here for link
Isn’t there any *better* source than sending people to download this via a third party download tool? (probably loaded with scamware!) I don’t trust this source!
Would you at least consider either DOCUMENTING what the fixes are in squid.conf for the errors you detail… or offer a copy of your modified squid.conf via e-mail?
> This file also solves these 2 errors below :
> commBind: Cannot bind socket FD 13 to *:3130: (10013) WSAEACCES, Permission denied
> commBind: Cannot bind socket FD 16 to *:4827: (10013) WSAEACCES, Permission denied
Thank you!
Hi again, the fixes are already applied in the squid.conf file!
Hi unixengineer, no this source is legit I is simply precompiled version of Squid – compiled to run on Windows 🙂
Thank you for this tutorial and it helps a lot for me but I have one question it will work for hotspot server too?
Thanks Ronie – thanks for the compliment. Yeah should work for a hotspot server too 🙂
Matt.
any advise bro? for antamedia hotspot combine with squid? antamedia is using port 80 only.
Hi Ronie – tricky one that, if you can set up AntaMedia HotSpot to use a ‘proxy server’ then you install squid proxy server on another computer. Then get AntaMedia HotSpot to forward web requests to the Squid Proxy Server on the other computer.
Else … you could install DNS on the Squid Server (on a different computer), set the gateway on the Squid Proxy Server to point to your internet router. Next, on the computer running AntaMedia HotSpot — set it’s gateway to be the IP address of the computer running Squid Proxy Server.
:~)
Matt.
Hi bro Matt if you don’t mind hope you can help me to create the config? on this setup? I’m not really good on this and i trust you.
Hi Ronie, always happy to help… Yeah I’ve already supplied a **pre-set config file** with this Squid guide :::
it’s available here :
http://www.4shared.com/file/QLQeQgjY/squid.html
basically as per the guide, download the squid.conf file to
c:\squid\squid.conf
Please see for more info ::
* Is there anything specific you’d like me to help with :~)
